Receptionist

Our Chicago division is looking for a permanent part-time receptionist. Responsibilities are answering phones, maintain both office paper and electronic filing systems, sort and distribute mail, order and maintain stock of office supplies, manage timesheets and vehicle reports. Support staff and human resource administration as required. Must have effective skills in Microsoft Word & Excel. It is anticipated this position will require 16-20 hours per week.


Design Engineer

Our Chicago office is seeking a Design Engineer with 4 to 8 years experience. The Design Engineer will perform a variety of highway engineering tasks by applying standard engineering techniques and analyses within the civil engineering discipline. Under the direction of others, the Design Engineer will assist in the creation of plans and specifications that meet client quality requirements. Typical tasks may include horizontal and vertical roadway alignment, superelevation and drainage calculations, construction drawings, detour drawings, signing and pavement marking drawings, erosion control drawings, quantity calculations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum BS degree in Civil Engineering, licensed PE with the State of Illinois, or have the ability to obtain license. Good communications skills are required. Experience with IDOT or the Illinois Tollway are a plus.


Assistant Resident Engineer

Our Chicago office is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer. Candidate should possess a minimum BS degree from a certified engineering university in Construction Engineering and Management or Civil Engineering. Candidate must be an EIT or PE with the State of Illinois and possess experience with IDOT and the Illinois Tollway. Experience should also include construction inspection duties on heavy highway interstate improvement projects and bridge reconstruction projects. Candidate should have a working knowledge of storm sewer system construction, culverts and retaining walls, as well as bridge substructures and superstructures. The candidate must have completed and passed IDOT’s QA/QC Technician training courses consisting of the 3-Day Aggregate Quality Control, Hot Mix Asphalt, IDOT/ACI Portland Cement Concrete and nuclear density training.


Structural Engineer

Chastain & Associates is seeking a licensed Structural Engineer with 12 to 15 years experience. Illinois SE or obtainable preferred.

Experience with highway bridges, railroad bridges, retaining walls and other transportation structures is required. Experience with buildings and industrial applications is a plus. Communication skills, personal confidence, a solid work history, ability to mentor graduate engineers and presentation skills are important attributes.


Graduate/Professional Engineer

Openings and growth opportunities for a civil E.I. with one to four years experience in our Chicago, Decatur and Rockford offices. Good communication skills are required. Experience with IDOT or Illinois Tollway are a plus.
