Chastain is providing survey construction layout services for the Contractor on this IDOT let project in DuPage County, Illinois. The project consists of 1.29 miles of roadway reconstruction and widening on IDOT's 22nd Street. Improvements include widening the roadway to three lanes in both directions; extensive relocation of utilities via open trench and directional boring including watermain, sewer and electric; traffic signal modernization; interconnect; and lighting. Work included the complete construction layout of said project improvements. This heavily travelled; high profile area has an average daily traffic of 55,000.
St. Mary's Hospital Site Expansion & Parking Lot Reconstruction, Decatur, Illinois
Project involved site improvements for the expansion of the emergency room and admitting lobby. Improvements also included the redesign of the parking lot to include 507 additional parking spaces. A new 4 acre parking lot was designed in two months including rezoning, vacating ROW, and obtaining Plan Commission approval. Staged construction was utilized to accommodate emergency vehicle access at all times. Chastain provided Phase II design and Phase III construction engineering services including construction layout for the entire campus. Numerous trips to the site were required when stakes were requested and close communication with the Contractor was essential. Chastain developed a method to streamline requests for layout services, ensuring the Contractor received the requested information, maintaining efficiency and lowering costs.
