Chastain performed the construction engineering services for the traffic signal modernization of 12 intersections throughout Chicago. The work featured:
- New signs.
- Temporary traffic signals.
- New conduit and cables.
- New sidewalk and curb and gutter.
- Bituminous resurfacing of intersections.
Services included layout of new conduits and foundations, construction inspection, materials testing, documentation and computation of quantities, and preparation of pay estimates for work performed by the contractor.
Key elements of this project included:
- Coordination with the residents and business to minimize inconveniences during construction.
- Utility relocation coordination.
- Coordination with the Bureau of Electricity and Bureau of Traffic for new signal activation.
- Ensuring a safe and effective construction staging plan provided to minimize impacts to pedestrians and motorists.
- $2.2 million construction cost.
